VALID Inc - The Victorian League for Individuals with a Disability is an advocacy group for adults with intellectual disabilities and their families. 

From the 2006 Disability Act intellectual disability is defined as the concurrent existence of:

(a) significant sub-average general intellectual functioning; and
(b) significant deficits in adaptive behaviour—

each of which became manifest before the age of 18 years.

Future Housing & Accommodation Options Forum

Friday, 10th February 2017  9.30am – 11.00am

Martin FoleyHosted at the Having a Say Conference, the forum will feature a presentation by the Hon Martin Foley, MP followed by a panel discussion.  The Minister will discuss the intent of Specialist Disability Accommodation payments  and how they will operate under the NDIS.  He will also report on the work of the  Implementation Taskforce Housing sub-group which have been discussing models to encourage the housing industry to invest in accessible housing - a great opportunity presented by the NDIS.

The Taskforce is one of the important ways the Victorian Government is receiving feedback from the sector, particularly on the future of DHHS-managed disability accommodation services.

The forum is free to Having a Say conference delegates otherwise there is a registration cost of $30 which includes a brunch following the forum.  Registration closes on Friday 3rd February.
