Having a Say conference
Answers to some commonly asked questions
Can I have a blue t-shirt?
Unfortunately no, the blue conference t-shirts are for volunteers and organisers only.
The volunteers and organisers have a different coloured t-shirt and a yellow cap so
that people who need assistance can easily see them.
How do I get a t-shirt (can I have one for free?)
T-shirts are available for purchase at a table near the registration desk or can be
ordered from the VALID office.
Why is my name tag a different colour?
Some name tags have a different colour print or border which helps identify any special
needs or requests that they may have. This includes things like assisting caters to
identify people with dietary issues, letting the video person identify which people do not
want their photo taken etc.
How long before the DVD is available?
It usually takes up to 4 months for the DVD and conference report to be completed.
It takes about 3 months for the first draft to be prepared after which there is a
review process to make sure that the finished DVD is high quality and gives a good
overview of the conference. An order form for the DVD will be included in the
conference bag or can also be downloaded from this website (under general information)
Where can I store my belongings?
Check your belongings at the registration desk. A luggage tag will be issued to you and
your belongings will be stored in a secure location.
Although we make every attempt to make sure any belongings are kept secure its important to note that all luggage is left at own risk, VALID takes no responsibility for any loss of property and strongly urges you to check that no money is left with your belongings.
I have lost my belongings where do I go?
Check with the registration desk to see if your belongings have been handed in there. You
will be asked to describe the item lost and identify yourself to assist us in making sure
any lost item is returned to the correct owner.
I have found something where do I hand it in?
Please take any lost property you find to the registration desk.
I have had my two activivities but are there any Come and Try spots I can
sneak into?
No, delegates are strictly only able to participate in two Come and Try activities.
People trying to get into activities they are not booked in for causes
overcrowding, can use up resources that were intended for other people and make it
difficult for the facilitator of the activity. Many of the Come and Try activities
also charge the conference per participant which can increase the cost of the conference.
